The Panzer 38(t) was a Czech designed and manufactured light tank. Germany captured and produced allot of them pre-war and the value of this little jewel is proven by the fact that its chassis stayed in production well up into 1944, adapted to various conversions and new designs (tank destroyers, turretless assault guns, self propelled anti-tank guns and self propelled anti-aircraft guns).
Introduction
This is a wargaming kit made by Zvezda in the 1/100 scale (15mm). The box art is nice (as always) and the instructions on the back show that this model has only six pieces.
Assembly Process
The turret is one piece and it is mounted directly on the upper hull (which is made out of 2 parts). Very crisp details on the model, as you can see.
After that the remainder of 4 pieces all form the hull (upper and lower) and the tracks. Again, very crisp details on such a low number of pieces and on such a small model.
Evaluation
Plastic Quality | 4.5 (Very Good) | Very Good. Hard plastic. No flash on the pieces. |
Number of Details | 4.5 (Very Good) | Excellent detail for 15mm. |
Instructions | 5 (Perfect) | Instructions are clear and easy to follow. |
Building Time | 5 (Perfect) | Under 5 minutes! |
Enjoyment | 5 (Perfect) | Nothing can be said against this. You can churn them out easy as pie. |
First of all this is quite a rare kit in 15mm as not many people do play Early FOW or use them in Mid FOW. However, if you do plan to do a Panzer 38(t) force, you can’t go wrong with this.
One other advantage is that with a bit of skill, spare bits and knowledge you can easily convert this to other vehicles based on the 38(t) chassis. All you need to do is remove the turret and mount the superstructure on (i’m guessing you would want to do some SPG’s).
