The StuG III was the most produced German armored fighting vehicle of WW2. It was built on the chassis of the Panzer III and switched from an infantry assault gun to a tank destroyer in 1941-1942 when it was clear there was nothing in the German arsenal that could face the T-34 and the KV-1. Armed with the long 75mm gun it proved to be quite a match when employed in defensive operations.
Introduction
This is a wargaming kit made by Plastic Soldier in the 1/100 scale (15mm). As usual we have no flash and the plastic is of a good quality.
Assembly Process
This kit is amazing in that you can build either an early Ausf. F, an early Ausf. G, a late Ausf. G (with shurzen) or a StuH 42 (105mm howitzer gun). I went with an early Ausf. F.
We start with the tracks which are easy to assemble due to the empty spaces left on them so you know how to fit them together with the wheels.
Next we have the hull with all its details.
We start by assembling the gun and the hull together.
After which we add all the details (hatches, front machine-gun plate, back engine plate, etc).
And with this we are actually done!
Evaluation
Plastic Quality | 5 (Perfect) | Excellent plastic. |
Number of Details | 4 (Good) | Good detail on the kit. |
Instructions | 4.5 (Very Good) | Instructions are easy and clear to follow. |
Building Time | 4.5 (Very Good) | Under 15 minutes. |
Enjoyment | 4.5 (Very Good) | Fast and easy. |
As far as StuG’s go the choice that you get with this kit surpasses any other option on the market. Even better, it’s plastic, so cheap!
