1:100 Sd.Kfz. 251 C – Plastic Soldier Company WW2v15003

The Sd.Kfz. 251 was an armored fighting vehicle designed to carry the German panzergrenadiers into battle. It was the most widely produced German half-track of the war and its adaptability led to around 20 versions to be developed for various uses: standard personnel carrier, command vehicle, observation vehicle, assault engineer vehicle and even ambulance.

Introduction

This is a wargaming kit made by Plastic Soldier in the 1/100 scale (15mm). The plastic quality and detail is remarkable, as usual. I always loved the German half-track look so the kit was very appealing.

Assembly Process

We start with the actual body of the vehicle. One thing (a very nice thing actually) to note is that the tracks are one piece and don’t require any assembly. Sweet! That just shaved another couple of minutes from the build time.

So soon enough we have a complete lower body of the half-track.

Next we have to add in the middle part (with the benches where the soldiers sit).

A few bits have to be assembled and placed inside the middle piece which we then glue onto the lower body.

But after that we just add the upper hull and the machine-guns (notice i left out the actual panzergrenadiers that you have to place sitting on the benches) and we are done!

Evaluation

Plastic Quality 5 (Perfect) Excellent plastic.
Number of Details 4 (Good) Not many but good for the scale.
Instructions 4.5 (Very Good) Instructions are easy and clear to follow.
Building Time 4.5 (Very Good) Under 15 minutes.
Enjoyment 4.5 (Perfect) Nothing short of pleasant and easy.

Another “must have” in large numbers in your force, the Sd.Kfz. 251C by PSC will serve you well and will be cheaper then the arm and the leg that you pay for metal ones.

  1. How did you remove the front MG from the sprue without breaking it? I broke all five trying various ways to cut it free from the sprue, but each time, the barrel broke off. Thank you.

  2. Hmmm, i remember that i cut the sprue around the MG effectively leaving sprue parts still connected to it. After that i cut the piece extremely careful from the sprue. But the secret, in case you didn’t try it, is to cut the sprue directly first.
    Hope this helps! 🙂
