The Panther was arguably one of the best designs of WW2. Sloped armor and wide tracks were copied by German engineers from the Russian T-34. Add exceptional German optics and a superb long 75mm gun that had more penetrating power then the Tiger’s 88 and you get a battlefield killer in all its might!
Introduction
This is a wargaming kit made by Plastic Soldier in the 1/100 scale (15mm). PSC is quite fond of quality kits and i was really eager to assemble one of their tanks.
Assembly Process
The kit can be made into either A, D or G version of the Panther. I chose the late version, the Ausf. G. I started by aligning the turret pieces. I ended up not using the smoke launchers in the end.
First we assemble the turret step by step and we add the gun mounting.
After that we finish by adding the gun and the mounted HMG.
Now we focus on the tracks. They are easy to assemble however pay attention on how you actually fit the track on the wheels. The wheels have to be AT THE BACK of the track teeth. Picture added because that’s the only fiddly thing that you can stumble upon.
On to the hull. There are not many details that you need to glue on it and the engine is completely casted but it looks simply amazing. Check the level of detail on that engine!
So now we have the 4 parts of the kit: 2 tracks, hull and turret. We easily snap them together with glue (except the turret) and the kit is done!
Evaluation
Plastic Quality | 4.5 (Very Good) | Very Good. Hard plastic. No flash on the pieces. |
Number of Details | 4.5 (Very Good) | Excellent detail for 15mm. |
Instructions | 4 (Good) | Instructions are clear and easy to follow but could be better. |
Building Time | 4.5 (Very Good) | Under 15 minutes! |
Enjoyment | 5 (Perfect) | An easy to assemble but lots of details Panther? Yes, please! |
Excelent quality and detail from this 1:100 kit. The fact that you can also build 3 variants out of it just ads to the value of the model.
